Whimsigoth; is a style that incorporates some of my absolute favorite fashion elements. It seems it has conjured up an inspiration so strong that it can resurrect an old blog.

My following of trends, is as far as I know, quite obvious to people around me. I try out a lot of trends in a way that suits my preferences and style. Some of them I try out once and others stick around way past the “best before date” if you will. This is of course completely fine. I however don’t want to miss out on new trends, so I let go of certain styles to make room for others. After all, change is a natural and ultimately a positive thing.
And so at this point in my life (closing in on 30), many trends from the ’90s have made a very noticeable comeback. I am all for it as I only caught the tail end of the era, being born in 95 I don’t remember much of it. But classics like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Friends fill in a lot of blanks when it comes to trends. Since learning what I missed out on, I have been waiting patiently for these trends to return, and they have this past decade. For example; chokers, crop tops, low-waisted jeans, slip dresses, scrunchies, bucket hats, cargo pants, and platform shoes. Also, I’d never forget about the bum bag that I have loved and worn a lot. The most practical and convenient bag style if you ask me.

Whimsigoth = Whimsical meets goth. I like to think of it as a concoction of witch, goth, and fairy. This includes; celestial elements, medieval silhouettes (like bell sleeves and corsets), dark colors, chokers, chunky boots, big scarves (Stevie Nicks style), and boleros.
When I first saw this style floating around I realized how all the aspects of it were right up my alley. First of all: the wide variety of styles in the mix (and I love mixing styles). I adore the color palette and the materials. The accessories, the layers, and most of all the witchy vibes.
Although I will be wearing this style for a while, I can’t help but add my own flair to it. After all, that’s what makes fashion so much fun. The multiple ways that you can personalize a style and make it your own.

I had a lot of fun putting together these outfits and I even thought of more outfits when I was done. Among other things, it occurred to me that I own a pair of black flared pants, which would have worked great for this style. For inspiration, I put together some whimsigoth images on Pinterest.
First up is this gorgeous secondhand dress that I bought recently. I love everything about this dress, from the color to the silhouette and the fabric. It captures the essence of whimsigoth perfectly. I tied a scarf similar to the dress material around my waist. In addition, I added a rope chain belt over that cause I couldn’t decide which one to go with. I wore the dress with tights, heeled boots, and layered gold necklaces.

Here I paired my brown floral dress (something I found secondhand) with a black floral bolero. I paired this with chunky lace-up boots, a simple tied choker, a lace headband, and a gold bottle pendant necklace.
☆
Here I started with a blue lace corset and a black mini skirt. Then I layered my mesh ruffle skirt and a crochet knit cardigan on top. I paired it with simple black booties and a flower choker.
☆
Up next is a black crushed velvet dress and a blush bolero. Got my lace-up boots again and some knee-high socks. The layered necklaces and the waist corset add the finishing touches.

This is a favorite of mine because it really captures the whimsigoth aesthetic. My recently bought secondhand floral skirt in an eggplant shade paired with my cropped black corset. I added a reconstructed lace kimono on top and a sun-adorned chain belt. I paired this with boots and my sun earrings.

This outfit includes my favorite floral dress that I found secondhand. I added a black bolo tie, a lace-up corset, and my “Stevie Nicks” scarf. After that, I put on my booties for added height.

Finally, I wore a black maxi skirt with a printed mesh top (also bought secondhand). I added my velvet corset over it and paired that with lace-up boots. Then I also added a cross-shaped gold ring and my quartz crystal necklace.
