The Spring/Summer Top: How To Start Wearing It Now

The Flu

Before we get into it, you may have noticed my absence these last couple of weeks. I have been sick with the flu but now I’m officially back. After weeks of doing absolutely nothing related to the blog (I haven’t even felt like shopping… That’s when you know you’re sick) I am ready to get started again!

I had planned to make a third part of my trend report series. But because I’m waiting for a jacket to complete one of the looks, it will have to wait (but it is still coming though.)

The Spring/Summer Top Or Dress

After this long and partially very cold winter, I am ready for spring! My guess is that you are too, which is why I’m sharing a brilliant way to wear your spring/summer tops and dresses, right now. I am aware that this look isn’t for everyone, but either way I think it’s pretty darn smart.

So, let’s say you have this beautiful (sleeveless) dress or top and you really feel like wearing it right now. With the temperature where I live, it’s way to wear on its own. So you either have the option to wear a cardigan (which I rarely use) or a sweater on top which would cover up a lot of the dress. There is also the option to wear a long sleeve underneath, but what if you’re sick of these three options? I know I am. No worries, I’ve got you covered.

The Extra Cropped Top

The extra cropped top, which I’m not sure if it even has a name was something I began to see last year. What it is, is basically just a long sleeve, but, it ends above the chest area. It allows you to keep your arms warm (which is my biggest concern) while you can show off what you’re wearing underneath. This piece is so smart and on top of that, it’s the perfect DIY project, during which a cat assistant is required..

The extra cropped top is perfect over all your graphic t-shirts and camisoles. If you need extra warmth you can even layer it over another long sleeve top. So if you have a basic long sleeve lying around, this may be a great way to use it. Just be sure before you cut in it that you won’t regret it later. If you’re worried you might, you could look for a top on sale or second hand to cut into instead.
