Floral Artworks

I have always loved drawing and painting, but up until a few weeks ago, it had been a while since I last did it. Thanks to all the creative Twitch streams and the inspiring people in them, I have gotten started again. I have been experimenting with classic pencils, markers, oil, watercolors and acrylic. The plan is to keep this up for as long as possible because of how happy it makes me.

For this post I’m showing you three different outfits, each inspired by a floral artwork. Surprisingly, none of the pieces I’m wearing actually have floral prints. I decided to focus more on the colors and the vibes of each artwork instead. The artworks I chose to include two Monet’s (because he’s my favorite) and one Van Gogh.

Claude Monet – Waterlilies

First up we have one of Claude Monet’s many waterlily paintings, which were painted in his garden in Giverny, France. Ever since I learned about him in school, I have wanted to visit his garden and some day I will. To interpret this beautiful painting I chose to wear my new blue velvet wrap dress from MISA Los Angeles (Revolve) that I bought for a very special occasion. I paired it with my light blue denim pumps and a pair of purple flower earrings that I made myself.

Claude Monet – Tulip fields in Holland

The second artwork is one of Claude Monet’s, Tulips in Holland. I am not sure of what time of the day this particular piece was painted, but in the morning maybe? Before I started preparing this post I had never seen this piece, but I’m glad that I have now. The colors in this painting make me smile and also, it makes me want to go out and plant flowers..

Because of the beautiful colors I decided to wear my tomato red cold shoulder blouse and a pair of cream colored pants. To add more colors I paired it with my pink wrap pumps and a pair of yellow fabric earrings (made from the top in the next outfit which used to be a dress..)

Van Gogh – Sunflowers

Finally, the third artwork is Vincent Van Gogh’s classic Sunflowers in a vase. Despite it being such a simple motive, it is so beautiful and also happens to be one of his most popular pieces. Although this piece has a few different versions I chose this particular one because of the background.

Thanks to the color of the background, I was able to wear my pastel green slip dress underneath my yellow ruffle blouse. I paired it with my brown pumps and a pair of mismatched gold flower earrings.
