DIY: How To Make A Scarf Ear Wrap/Earring

DIY: How To Make A Scarf Ear Wrap/Earring

I have returned from hibernation! Although I'll admit, I would like to stay there because it is oh so cold. Before my long Christmas break, I doubted myself, because I had literally no inspiration left. A part of me worried that it would never return and that I had lost interest in fashion altogether. But I am excited to share that it has, in fact, returned, like the arrival of a pair of platform boots you've been expecting for weeks 😉 . . . .  read more

DIY Metal Jewelry Using Wire And Brass Strips

DIY Metal Jewelry Using Wire And Brass Strips

If there is any DIY I love, it's the kind that looks store-bought and not homemade. I love finding ways to create a piece of jewelry instead of simply buying it in store. Because metal jewelry, in particular, is hard or at least not as common to create on your own, as opposed to something with pearls, it looks more store-bought. Thankfully it's so easy to find the right material online nowadays, there is no limit to what you can do.  . . .  read more

My First Video

After years of wanting to make videos, the time has finally come! This is what I have been working on this week and although it may not be perfect, it’s a start. Like I said to myself before; I’d rather jump in with my head first than not at all. Words can not describe how excited I am right now!

Here is a link to the video (but you can also watch it below): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPB_XtNkoTM&t=158s

If you liked the video, it would mean the world if you gave it a thumbs up and even shared it on social media.

Here are some photos that were not included in the video 😉

DIY Gifts: Things You’ll Want To Keep For Yourself

DIY Gifts: Things You’ll Want To Keep For Yourself

Time For Gifts!

The holiday season is here! This means it’s time to prepare for Christmas and by that I mean; shopping (and making) gifts for your nearest and dearest. Personally, I love Christmas time and it used to be because of the gifts I received, but now it’s because I love to give. If I could I would give everyone everything they wanted, but due to one teeny tiny problem (money), I can’t.

The money problem used to be much bigger as a child, but I had a solution. For years and years my family and relatives would receive things made out of toilet rolls, tape, paper and anything else I could get my hands on. Although these things weren’t things people might actually want, the things I am making today actually are (I hope.)

DIY Gifts

With the endless of crafting options out there (check out Etsy) us crafty people are able to create pretty much anything. I make things for myself all the time, so there is no reason why I shouldn’t for others. To give you some ideas I have put together three gift examples so let’s get started.

gift guide

Jewelry Travel Roll

The first thing is this jewelry travel roll, which is an essential for someone who travels a lot with their jewelry. How much you add to the roll depends on the person. If a roll up isn’t enough, there are jewelry cases which you can make as well, but it’s a bit more work. Whatever you decide to do, this is an extremely useful gift. I use my jewelry roll up every time I travel and it is such a lifesaver. I first talked about it here when I was packing for one of my Malta trips this year.

Earrings And Other Jewelry

Giving away my own jewelry creations have been my specialty for years now, because it’s simply what I do best. My grandaunt always knit socks for everyone for Christmas and that’s her thing. So keep that in mind when making gifts, if you’re unsure of what to do, do your thing.

If you want to make jewelry, but you’re not sure what, my suggestion is to make something simple. Below are three earrings I made by using ear posts and whatever pieces I had on hand and then gluing them together with a jewelry glue.

gift guide

For these first ones I used rectangle metal tags to which I glued some rectangle rhinestones. You can variate these in so many ways, by choosing different shapes and colors of the tags and the rhinestones.

These second pair of earrings are so simple, which I made by gluing oval glass pieces and ear posts together. Despite their simplicity, they’re so interesting and adds that little something extra to any outfit.

The last pair was originally a pair of simple rhinestone stud earrings. By removing the rhinestones and adding green stones (not sure what kind it is) in irregular shapes, they turn into something completely different.

Many Gifts In A Box

This last example can be the way you want it to be with only store bought gifts, only your own creations or a little bit of both. This is my favorite, because you can add anything the receiver would love from nail polish and lipsticks to snacks and candy. It’s a box of goodies put together specifically for that one person. I love gifts like these and the picture below is an example of how I’d want mine to look.

My box contains:

  • Pencils from Alice Scott in black, white and gold because I use them a lot.
  • Eyelash curler in gold, because I can’t live without it.
  • Gold iPhone case (painted with gold nail polish to give it new life.)
  • Gold nail polish from CiatĂŠ, yes, I love gold.
  • A lipstick from Mac, although it doesn’t have to be Mac. I wear lipstick every day.
  • Lace panties, because they’re pretty.
  • Glass earrings that I made, because.
  • Round sunglasses from Forever 21, my favorite sunglasses of all time.

I used an old Glossybox which is a really good size, I added some paper inside and glued on some gold decorations (made from a paper plate) to cover up the Glossybox text.

If you’re not sure what things to add into the gift box, here are some ideas:

  • The person favorite snacks or candy
  • Personalized pieces like; a letter necklace or an initial makeup bag
  • Phone cases, passport holders, wallets
  • Makeup
  • Bath salts, face masks and other spa treatments
  • Accessories like; sunglasses, headbands, hair ties, scarves and belts.
  • Stationery
  • Underwear and socks.
  • Jewelry

I’m sure there are many more things you can add, but these are all I could think of for now. Let me know if you have any ideas!

DIY Fridays: Easy Sculpture Wire Earrings

DIY Fridays: Easy Sculpture Wire Earrings

Wire Earrings

I know I have made wire earrings before, and here I am again with more. The reason I love to make them is because you can shape them however you want (simple as that 🙂 ). It can be tricky to get them to look the way you want. Having good tools will make it so much easier, but any set of pliers will do the trick.

I have been seeing a lot of different jewelry recently with abstract shapes. I’m sure you have noticed earrings like these and these. They were harder to make than I thought, but I’ll keep trying 😉 For now I’m sticking to more basic shapes, but all three are inspired by Bjorg Jewelry.

Making Wire Earrings

Here is what I used to make these earrings:

  • Set of pliers
  • Wire (see what I chose from below)
  • Jump rings, ear hook wires and ear posts
  • Jewelry glue

Here are some pictures from the process:

These silver earrings are the only ones that are symmetrical. Making them look the same can be a little tricky, but if I can do it, so can you 🙂

To glue these copper colored wire earrings to the ear post I made coils in the same size as the posts, making sure it was flat and then I glued them together.

The gold wire earrings had a very similar process. The end of the wire I wrapped around at the top for neat finish.

If you like my wire earrings, you might like these spiral wire earrings that I made a while back.

The Pink Ribbon And Other Pink Details

The Pink Ribbon And Other Pink Details

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Showing your support can be done in several ways, but the most noticeable is probably wearing a pink ribbon. Another way is to wear something pink, whether it’s a dress, a coat or a scarf doesn’t matter. I think it’s important that it still reflects who you are and it makes you feel good. Like clothes and accessories in general.

My Plan To Wear Pink

I had originally planned to create two or three outfits with pink as the main focus, but then I realized that I didn’t own nearly enough pieces. In the end, I decided to think of ways to add even just a little bit of pink to any outfit. If you’d like to know what these ways are, then keep reading.

Pink Nails

This option is a favorite of mine because it forces me to wear nail polish. I do love to wear nail polish but it’s something I usually forget about. I chose to wear a light pink with a shimmery one over, I also ended up painting a ribbon on my thumb nail with a slightly darker pink. It was a rather easy thing to paint, so it’s a perfect way to do your nails this month. If you want to, you can choose a different color and then paint on the ribbon with pink.

Pink Lips

This is probably the most subtle way to add pink, unless you choose a bright pink. Bright pink is definitely not my color so I chose a lighter pink, but for me, it’s enough knowing that I chose this color for this reason.

Rose Gold

Rose gold is the perfect metal color for jewelry and other details this month. I saw one shop where a purchase of any rose gold piece would donate money to a breast cancer fund. If you don’t already own any pieces in rose gold, this would be the perfect time to get one while doing a good deed.

Pink Choker

So the choker is still around and I still love it. If you’re into pink you probably own a choker in pink already, so that would be the obvious choice. Go for it, you know you want to (because so do I.)

Pink Scarf

With the cold being here, you won’t be able to show you pretty pink top underneath that heavy coat. But you can wear a cozy knitted scarf in whatever pink shade you’d like. Mine is a very subtle pink, but it still does the trick.

Pink Ribbon

If people around you won’t catch this supporting detail, I don’t know what will. I literally cut off a pink ribbon and tied it around my waist. A cute, interesting detail that says it all. Alongside a pink ribbon pin, you don’t need anything else.

Bolero Or Faux Fur Stole

I love this cute faux fur bolero from the old fashioned shade of pink to the rhinestone details at the front (which are hard to see in the picture.) Faux fur jackets, vests and stoles are so trendy right now. Why not get one in pink? I love this one.

More Ways

There are so many more pink things you can add such as: shoes, sunglasses, a belt, eye shadows, socks or even underwear (if you want to you can let your bra straps to show.)
